Lehigh County Authority Wastewater Pretreatment Plant in Allentown, Pa has an immediate opening for a licensed wastewater operator. The LCAWWPTP is an industrial pretreatment facility located in Upper Macungie Township. The plant treats waste from local industries and discharges to the Allentown sewer system. It is an advanced activated sludge treatment plant with a capacity of 5.75MGD, BOD of 76,500 lbs per day and 25,500lbs/day of TSS.  The current average flow is 5.0 MGD. The facility also manages an intensive hauler program. Solid waste is being land applied. Applicants should be experienced in the activated sludge treatment process. 

General requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Operator’s certification, preferred, but not required (Class A).
  • Some experience in operating wastewater treatment plants

Lehigh County Authority has an opening for Shift Supervisor to support the water/wastewater operations.  As a Shift Supervisor, you will perform a variety of duties to assure the proper and efficient operations of Allentown’s water treatment facilities and wastewater treatment facilities.  This role serves as the supervisory functional point of contact for emergencies during second and third shift operations for the water distribution system and sewage conveyance systems, in addition to the treatment plant facilities.  The required shift for this position is 3:00pm – 3:00am.

This position requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in water/wastewater operations, 2 years in a supervisory role.  Candidates should possess a valid Class A Wastewater Systems Operator Certificate and/or a valid Class A Water System Operators Certificate.

Qualifications: Experience and Licenses:

  • At least 6 years of experience in wastewater treatment or in water filtration operations is required.
  • 2 years is a supervisory role is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid PA driver’s license. Possession of a Class A, Sub classification 2 Wastewater Systems Operators Certificate and a Class A, Sub Classifications 1, 7, 8, 10, 12 Water Systems Operators Certificate highly preferred.

Lehigh County Authority has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Utility Technician.  The individual in this role will execute, direct and lead crews assigned in both water and sewer divisions in the repair, replacement, and maintenance of the water and sewer system.

This role requires an experienced candidate who is familiar with water and sewer maintenance and repair tools and methods.  Candidates must possess a valid Class E water distribution license.


Education, knowledge, and experience requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience required.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience in water and sanitary sewer utility construction
  • Valid PA driver’s license is required.
  • Valid Class E water distribution license and/or Collection system license is required at the time of hire.

The City of Reading Wastewater Treatment Plant is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to perform all necessary maintenance tasks to maintain compliance with the Clean Water Act / Clean Stream Law requirements, all NPDES Permit parameters, as well as other applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards and manufacturers recommendations. This individual will assist the Operations division and other teams with any and all corrective tasks that arise. The IMM must be able to effectively communicate any disruptions of treatment units to the Operations staff or others as appropriate. The ideal candidate must be willing to lead, train others and be available for on-call services.

Individuals must possess High School diploma or GED, have/or obtain PADEP Wastewater Treatment Certificate AE 1,4 and have/or obtain a Class B CDL (w/ air brake and Tanker Endorsements) within time restrictions. Trade School education in Mechanical. Electrical, Welding, Plumbing, or machine shop application is highly preferred. The ideal individual will have a minimum of 4yrs experience in similar/industrial settings.
