In this role, you will be responsible for performing all levels of skilled and unskilled technical work in the maintenance and operations of wastewater and water systems.

Important Qualifications to your Success

  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in wastewater/water maintenance or operations is preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word/Excel and CMMS (or similar system) required.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Licensure: Valid PA driver’s license with CDL Class A with tanker endorsement is preferred. New hires must obtain the appropriate licenses within 120 days of employment.
  • Valid Class D (or better) wastewater distribution license and/or Collection system license is preferred at the time of hire. New hires must obtain the required license within 18 months of employment.
  • Technical: Must be skilled in electronics, automotive repair, maintenance mechanical work, plumbing and related crafts.
  • Scheduling: Availability to be on a 24 hour, 7 days a week standby service is required.

The Lower Salford Township Authority located in Harleysville PA, is seeking a full-time licensed wastewater plant operator. The Authority operates two activated sludge treatment plants, pump stations and collections system.

Position Description:

The Wastewater Plant Operator position is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance and repairs of the treatment plants, pump stations and collection system to ensure an efficient and safe operation. The position reports to the Authority’s Operations Manager.

The individual must be proficient with pump operations, laboratory equipment and instrumentation, chemical feed systems, solids dewatering and control systems. Must be proficient with the use of power and hand tools. Must display the ability to work independently and problem solve.    

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Pennsylvania Wastewater Operator Certification Class C Subclass 1 or higher is required.

Valid driver’s license.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays and respond to emergency calls on a rotating schedule.

Must be capable of lifting and or carrying 50 lbs or more, walking up and down stairs, climbing, and working in confined areas.

Experience with SCADA, GIS, and Microsoft Office a plus.

Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical, instrumentation and plumbing preferred.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
