Mount Pocono Municipal Authority (MPMA) is seeking a positive addition to our Wastewater Treatment Plant staff. MPMA is a small government entity located in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania.


The minimal qualifications are a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, limited computer knowledge, and ability to work at a modern wastewater facility. The ideal candidate has flexibility working shifts at various times including weekends and Holidays. The candidate should also be prepared to work in changing weather conditions. Compensation will be $17.00-17.50/hour to start. Benefits and pay evaluation at 90 days and another evaluation at the end-of-fiscal-year. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Performance of physical, chemical, and biological analyses of municipal and industrial wastewaters and sludges. The work also includes preparing the necessary agents and equipment for testing.

Essential Duties:

*Performs standard tests to determine total suspended solids, total solids, total dissolved solids, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), carbonaceous BOD, dissolved oxygen, pH, fecal coliforms, total residual chlorine, nutrients, etc for compliance and non-compliance samples.
*Assembles and troubleshoots instruments and equipment for analytical and research work. Cleans, maintains, and stores laboratory equipment and performs general housekeeping of laboratory.
*Prepares media, stains, reagents, and test solutions routinely used in the laboratory.
*Operates equipment and conducts tests as directed.
